Providing Cultural Support and Advice for Family Start's ACC Sensitive Claims Providers.

These instructions are for people interested in supporting clients and therapists to remove any cultural barriers that exist that are hindering recovery or engagement in support for Kiritaki.

This is not restricted to Māori clients or Māori cultural support. ACC explicitly recognises faith, Rainbow/Takatāpui and disability communities. Its wider cultural competency guidance also recognises culture in relation to ethnicity, gender, age, religion and other backgrounds.

HERE is more detail on WHO might be appropriate to deliver these services and WHAT can be done during these sessions.

The following people may be eligible to provide this support:

  • Kaumātua or community elders

  • Faith leaders

  • Community leaders from Rainbow/Takatāpui communities
